We are pleased to announce another award for the Paracelsus Bad & Kurhaus in Salzburg: the Aluminium Architecture Award 2020!
The "Aluminum-Fenster-Institut" awards this prize every two years in cooperation with the Architecture Foundation Austria and IG Architektur. The Aluminum Architecture Award honors innovative, outstanding architectural achievements that demonstrate the design and technical possibilities of aluminum profiles. In addition to high-quality architecture, the judging criteria include sustainability concepts, life cycle considerations as well as technical and aesthetic aspects.
Jury statement:
"The building assignment given to Berger+Parkkinen Architects is a rare one. It was solved in a remarkable way, both architecturally and in terms of the use of materials. The public bath with attached spa house is located close to the center of the city of Salzburg and is very well positioned in terms of urban development with reference to the surrounding buildings as well as to the landscape. The sophisticated aluminum facade protects the building from views, but also allows transparency and brightness. The generous architectural gesture is accompanied by a very subtle and precise use of aluminum, which is maintained down to the last detail."
